REPLICANT
In HIT's International Design Week I was tasked with creating a short video inspired by a dystopian piece of media. I chose Blade Runner (1982). My work is about the philosophical themes from the movie, asking: "what makes you human?"
The project had to be completed in just 4 days.
I wrote a quick synopsis for the short film, inspired by the replicant chase scene in the movie.
“The Android hides in room full of decommissioned androids. The Detective walks in, pointing a gun, looking for her. Zooming into our hero’s face, we see it is scared, crying.”
Then, because of the time limit, I curated a set of different 3D models from different online sources and set them in place for a quick storyboard.
The next steps were to set up simple, quick animations, some by hand and some with the help of Mixamo.
I edited the materials and lighting to give the movie a dark, tense futuristic vibe, to make sure the viewers are sharing the android’s sense of anxiety and dread.
REPLICANT was created in Cinema4D, rendered with Octane Render and composited with After Effects.
